THE SUMMER SCHOOL 2015 in exploration seismology

With our International School in heart of the Southern Apennines we aim to provide to students in Geology or Geophysics hands-on experience at acquiring and processing high-resolution seismic reflection & refraction data.

The School is organized by the National Institute of Geophysics & Volcanology (INGV) and by AMRA (Analysis and Monitoring of Environmental Risk), with the support of BioGem (Ariano Irpino) and it will be held between August 2 and August 8, 2015 at the INGV section in Grottaminarda (Avellino, Italy).

The Summer School purpose is to enhance a student's knowledge by going beyond a standard classroom-based applied seismology curriculum, by a full-immersion into a typical and tight industry-standard high-resolution  exploration seismology project to be completed in seven days.

Participants will be actively involved in all phases of the project (from data acquisition to processing and preliminary interpretation & presentation). This experience will provide to qualified students in geophysics, geology and related fields more skills and motivation to pursue careers in exploration seismology.

The school faculty consists of experienced researchers & professors of INGV (Italy), University of Bologna (Italy) and Petroleum Institute (UAE). Ideal candidates for the School would be upper division or graduate students in geophysics or related disciplines from European and foreign Universities, and professionals from various Earth Science disciplines.
